About Wellco
- Originally known as the Wellco Shoe Corporation, Wellco Enterprises' first shoes were much different than the ones it makes today. Lightweight slippers and casual shoes branded as Wellco Foamtreads, the shoes were discontinued in 1985. However, the Tennessee-headquartered company diversified in 1965 by stepping up to produce a military boot during the Vietnam War. To date, Wellco remains one of the top innovators of combat boots. It is dedicated to outfitting both the men and women on the battlefields and those veterans returning home. In addition, civilians and tactical operators throughout the country wear these military boots. No matter where the battle lines are drawn, Wellco works to ensure well-performing products for those in the service.

I was excited to get these boots, but the first time I wore them they were incredibly uncomfortable. After wearing them for a few more days, they have improved, but still not comfortable. They are stiff, especially in the heel. I kinda like the composite toe for safety, but it needs redesign so that it doesn't rub the top of my foot when it's flexed. The zippered sides are nice, they make putting them on much faster. The sole has good traction ability, won't slip. There are nicer boots out there.

Currently deployed to Afghanistan where it's very mountainous and rocky. As soon as I put these boots on, I felt an immediate difference. I've worn Rocky's, Bellville's, and Danner's and these are the most comfortable I've experienced yet. It is definitely a boot that is multi-functional. I can actually "run" in these and they feel GREEEEEAAAAT!!
